Climate

The Rugby World Cup competition is being enjoyed in September and October 2011. The climate varies greatly from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South. So pack for four seasons in one day, and don't forget your sunscreen! If you aren't sure what temperatures to pack for, ask us. We are happy to help. (Link to metservice website? )

Getting around

On the road

We drive on the left hand side of the road. The speed limit on open roads is 100 kph, and 50 kph in built up areas. You must carry your drivers license with you at all times. It is illegal to talk on your mobile phone or text whilst driving.

By plane

Check out Air New Zealand for internal flights around the country, between provincial centres where pool games are being played (Link to air nz website)

By sea

The Interislander Ferry services offers a vehicular ferry service between Wellington and Picton. The trip takes around three hours and travels through the spectacular Marlborough Sounds

Shopping

Major shopping malls in main centres are open seven days and offer a variety of shops, supermarkets and pharmacies. High Street trading hours in the main centres is typically 8.30am until 5pm although most malls offer late night shopping. Regional cities offer slightly different shopping hours. Information centres in cities will be able to assist with trading hours. (link to Isite website?) If you are using a car during your stay in New Zealand, hold on to your supermarket dockets as all major supermarkets offer a discount in selected service stations for fuel.

Money

ATM's are located in shopping malls and outside most banks throughout the country. Denominations of notes are $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5.
